  I've had some frustrating experiences with banks before, which is what made me decide that credit unions were worth a try, but nothing compares to the kind of incompetence and indifference I've seen out of CCU. After two years as a fairly happy Premier Credit Union member, they notified me that they would be merging with Consumers Credit Union. No big deal, they said, just a name change with no practical consequences aside from better interest rates on most accounts. It's been about a week now and in that time I have lost the ability to access my credit card details online, spent literal hours on the phone being bounced between tech support and customer service reps looking for any excuse to transfer me (with not a single positive result on any issue), and found out that regaining access to basic features like mobile deposit that I've been using for years would require a hard pull on my credit report. Maybe the interest rates they are offering will be enough to give them a chance. If so, you're either in for an interesting experience or have more patience than I do. There's a certain basic level of service quality that I think any similar business should have to live up to and these guys don't even come close. I'll be closing all my accounts as soon as the last transactions have cleared.
